What to Do If You Knock Out a Tooth
The first hour matters most. Save this guide — and our number — for the day you hope never comes.
If a permanent tooth gets knocked out, the next 60 minutes are critical. Pick the tooth up by the crown — not the root — and gently rinse it under cool water without scrubbing.
If you can, place it back in its socket and hold it there with light pressure. If you can't, store it in a cup of milk or saliva (not water) and call us immediately at 843-884-0335.
We reserve same-day emergency appointments specifically for situations like this. The faster we can re-implant a tooth, the better the chance it survives long-term.
